The curse of the Super Cup
Following their Supercopa win on Wednesday, Real Madrid now have a curse to break. The past six teams to lift the trophy have all failed to win La Liga the following season, so Zidane's side will be looking to continue to make history. Barcelona (2011, 2013, 2016), Real Madrid (2012), Atletico (2014) and Athletic Bilbao (2016) have been the teams who have not managed to win successful La Liga titles after winning the Super Cup.
Navas joins the 100 club
Winning his eight trophy for Real Madrid, Keylor Navas reached another landmark. The Costa Rican keeper marked a century of matches at the club while also keeping a clean sheet against Barcelona.
Barcelona's heavy Super Cup defeats
Barcelona's Super Cup defeats are usually quite emphatic. The five goals Real Madrid put past Ter Stegen over two legs mean that the Catalans have conceded 10 goals in their last two Super Cup defeats against Athletic Bilbao and Real Madrid.
Asensio continues his record
Asensio's 30-yard stunner means the 21-year-old has scored in all the finals he has played in but one, including the first leg of the Super Cup, the Champions League final and last season's UEFA Super Cup. At the moment, the talented youngster has only failed to find the back of the net in this year's 2-1 UEFA Super Cup win over Manchester United.
The Bernabeu taunted Pique
Gerard Pique's attempt to keep Neymar at the Camp Nou came back to bite him. As Pique was replaced by Nelson Semedo in the second half, the crowd at the Bernabeu made fun of the defender's ill-fated prediction by chanting 'se queda, se queda' (he's staying, he's staying).
Ramos clowning Messi
Sergio Ramos decided to wind up his opponents when they were 2-0 up, which attracted the ire of Lionel Messi. The defender offered the ball to the Argentine, before chucking it away as the striker reached to grab it. This prompted an angered reaction from Messi, who echoed a few unsavoury sentiments towards Ramos.
Barcelona's record broken
It is the first time in six years Barcelona have failed to score against Real Madrid. Since Real Madrid's 2011 Copa del Rey 1-0 win, Barcelona had scored against their arch-rivals in 24 consecutive matches.
PSG pleased with Neymar
Life without Neymar will take some getting used to. With the Brazilian getting off to a flying start at PSG, and as Barcelona trailed 2-0, the French club posted a picture on Twitter of their new recruit with his arms shrugged in a carefree pose.
