Despite the game taking place at the Bernabeu, something which will only make Barca's attempts to turn around their two-goal deficit all the more difficult, Barca fans shouldn't give up hope quite yet. The Catalans have actually lost very few games at the home of their arch-rivals in recent years.
There are no prizes for guessing who will start in goal, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen is Barca's No 1 keeper. There was nothing the German could two about the two wonder goals he saw fly past him in the first leg.
The defence also practically picks itself, Gerard Pique will start despite his much criticised own goal in the first leg, whilst he will be partenered by French international Samuel Umtiti who aquitted himself well at the Camp Nou. Aleix Vidal is expected to start at right-back ahead of new boy Nelson Semedo and utility man Sergi Roberto despite enduring a tough outing last time out. Whilst on the other flank, Jordi Alba will start ahead of Lucas Digne.
Valverde will have to make do without veteran schemer Andres Iniesta who will miss the game through injury. Question marks have also been asked about the form of Sergio Busquets, who has looked a shadow of his former self in recent times.
In terms of who could replace Iniesta, Barca certainly have a number of options, Andre Gomes is ready to step in when called upon but it is likely that on this occasion Busquets will play alongside Rakitic, Sergi Roberto and Denis Suarez in the Barca engine room.
Finally, it willl come as no surprise that the Barca front line will comprise of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, two of the first names on Valverde's teamsheet.
Barcelona's probable starting XI to face Real Madrid: Ter Stegen; Aleix Vidal, Piqué, Umtiti, Jordi Alba; Rakitic, Busquets, Sergi Roberto, Denis Suárez; Messi, Luis Suárez.
