The Brazilian midfielder told beIN Sports in a post-game flash interview that he knew exactly what he had to do when the ball fell on him about five metres from the edge of the area in order to score Real’s third goal in their come-from-behind 3-1 victory over the Italian side.
“It is something that I have been practising a lot,” Casemiro said of the volley that shook Pepe Reina’s right-hand post.
“Thanks to God it went well.
“We practice this situation every day, where basically I trail the action and take the shot from outside the area.”
Later on Wednesday night, Casemiro took to Twitter to thank the Real Madrid fans, saying that he drew the strength for his powerful strike by their support.
Le he pegado con toda la fuerza que hoy nos habéis dado. Gracias, afición. ¡Hala Madrid! #RMUCL #HalaMadrid pic.twitter.com/o9e9Et5aqR
