In a study carried out by Apuestasdeportivas.com, the question was posed, bearing in mind the cost of living in each of the cities with a football team in the Spanish top division.
'We have undertaken a study comparing the wages of La Liga players and Spanish citizens. The study compares the time it takes for a footballer to purchase a 100 m2 house to what it takes for the average citizen to buy it', the mentioned website explained.
As expected, the major differences came between the population of Barcelona and members of the Catalan club, and Madrid players and the inhabitants of the Spanish capital.
While a Barca player has to work 299 minutes in order to purchase a house of said characteristics, a Barcelona resident would have to work at least 1,231 days.
Real Madrid players need 197 minutes to own a house, but the average person living in Madrid would require 838 days to make the full payment, or what is the same, 1.207.578 minutes.
The La Liga player who would have to work the most to own a house would be a member of Leganes' squad, it would take two days' work to to so. The ordinary person living in Leganes would need 678 days.
