In a measured tone, Paulinho addressed all matters to do with his transfer to Barcelona. He demonstrated a strong personality and conviction in his words, seemingly well prepared for the challenge which he's faced with.
He started his appearance in front of the media by saying: "It's a dream I've had my whole life. It's come true and I'm ready to dedicate myself to my team-mates", before defining himself as a player.
"I help out in defence but I've always played a more advanced role. I like to play further up the pitch, near the area."
The midfielder spoke about the "low points in his career" referring to his time at Tottenham: "The first season was very good, but in the second I had no continuity. I accepted the challenge from China and I regained my confidence there."
Why Barcelona? Paulinho was very clear. "I've always wanted to be here. I'll show that every day on the pitch, winning games and winning titles. The motivation is Barcelona", he admitted.
When asked about the pressure he would be under at Barcelona, the Brazilian international argued that "I've always faced challenges with courage", avoiding any malicious comments: "I'm not worried about anything that isn't to do with football, I've survived the pressure at other clubs".
