Abderdeen midfielder Gary Mackay-Steven was pulled out of the River Kelvin in the early hours of Sunday morning following a night out.
The midfielder only joined the Dons earlier this summer after a spell with Celtic and was on the bench for his side's 4-3 victory at Partick Thistle on Saturday.
That result sent the 'Dons' top of the table and the one-cap Scotland international is believed to have gone to a nearby nightclub that evening with a team-mate.
Somehow, the player ended up in the river and was treated for hypothermia following his rescue.
The Scottish Premiership side issued the following statement: "(We) can confirm Gary Mackay-Steven was involved in an incident in the River Kelvin on Sunday morning.
"He was treated for hypothermia but is now at home and recovering well. On behalf of Gary, the club extends its thanks to the emergency services involved. The club will not be commenting further on the matter."
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Scottish Fire Brigade told 'The Scottish Sun' newspaper the following: "At 2.46am on Sunday, August 27 the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to reports of a man in the water at the River Kelvin near Benalder Bridge in Glasgow.
"Four appliances attended and specialist water rescue crews safely assisted the individual out of the water.
"He was then transferred into the care of paramedics after suffering the effects of hypothermia. Firefighters ensured the area was safe before leaving the scene."
