After a meeting in Nyon, UEFA have decided the venue for the 2019 Champions League final: the Wanda Metropolitano.
The other stadium in the running was the Baku National Stadium of Azerbaijan, which will instead host the Europa League final.
Atleti's new home is a sight to behold. UEFA have fallen for the charm of the Metropolitano, and in turn chosen the home of the 'Rojiblancos' for their biggest match of the year.
Arriving at the decision, UEFA focused on a range of relevant factors, even stretching out to the hotel facilities in Madrid, and traffic capacities from the local Barajas airport.
The news comes despite previous reports that UEFA had written off the Wanda Metropolitano as an option for the 2019 final. Ultimately, the beauty of the red and white stadium has won it the ultimate prestige in European football.
