English publication 'The Sun' claims that Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is considering a sensation swoop for the Chilean star, who is set to leave the 'Gunners' on a free transfer next summer.
The 28-yea-old was close to sealing a big-money move to Manchester City on deadline day, only for the deal to collapse when Arsenal were unable to bring in Monaco's Thomas Lemar as a replacement.
The aformentioned source reports that despite being close to joining City, Sanchez's advisors also sounded out United over a move and that the club are likely to try to do a deal when the player becomes available on a free.
It was expected that had Sanchez joined City in the summer, Sergio Aguero would have been the man he would have replaced, with the Argentine having seemingly failed to impress Pep Guardiola last season, however, given Aguero's recent form and the Spaniard's recent description of his striker as a 'City legend' perhaps the 'Citizens' will be forced to reassess their interest in the player.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is still optimistic that he can convince Sanchez to sign a new deal at the Emirates but the club's inconsistent performances so far this season are unlikely to covince him to do so.
'The Sun' suggests that the Chilean's agent has demanded that United pay Sanchez a £25m signing on fee, though given the current market, that is still significantly below his market value.
Sanchez could feature for Arsenal in tonight's Carabao Cup tie against Doncaster Rovers at the Emirates.
