Barcelona were forced to act in the January transfer window, due to an injury crisis in their defence, and Yerry Mina was brought in to sure up the squad. They purchased the Colombian defender from Palmeiras for a fee in the region of €11.8m.
However, since his move, Mina has played just three times for the Spanish league leaders, due to the recoveries of Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti, and the impressive performance level of Thomas Vermaelen.
Looking forward to next season, the arrival of Arthur from Gremio causes a complication for Barca. Their new signing hails from Brazil, meaning the club will have to get reshuffle some of their non-EU players in order to make space for him.
While the easiest solution to this problem seemed to be sorting out an EU passport for Philippe Coutinho, who has a Portuguese wife, however it also seems possible that Barca may send Mina out on loan to gain experience.
Barcelona are big fans of Mina's ball-playing ability, however the Colombian isn't getting enough game-time at the moment and it is likely that he will head out for at least a season to develop into a player worthy of the Barca first team.
