Following Mohamed Salah's scintillating performance in Liverpool's 5-2 victory over Roma in the Champions League on Tuesday night, many have been suggesting that the Egyptian forward should beat Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi's stranglehold on football's most prestigious individual trophy.
However, footballer-turned-pundit Gary Neville wasn't convinced and took to Twitter to make his allegiances known.
Replying to the 'Times' graphic of the three players' statistics, Neville wrote: "Only one winner = @Cristiano".
His comment understandably provoked a strong reaction among the Liverpool faithful who feel that Salah, currently on 43 goals for the season, would be a worthwhile winner given his surprise form this season.
Nonetheless, with the winner not set to be announced till December, a lot could change in the footballing world between now and then.
