Athletic Bilbao have announced on Monday that goalkeeper and reported Real Madrid target Kepa Arrizabalaga has signed a new contract at San Mames which won't run out until June 30th 2025.
Within the new deal is an €80m release clause, which means that the Spanish club have some financial insurance if Madrid do decide to make a move for the 23-year-old in the future.
The negotiations between the goalkeeper and the Champions League holders had reportedly broken down due to a toe injury and consequent lack of training by the player, which wasn't ideal for Zinedine Zidane's team who would have needed him for the second-half of the season.
However, the 'soap opera' concerning the future of Kepa has finally been resolved thanks to this new contract with Bilbao announcing the news through their official Twitter account:

The Spanish club are currently twelfth in La Liga but are only two points behind seventh-placed Celta Vigo in a congested mid-table. Therefore, keeping hold of one of their most valuable assests will be a big boost for José Ángel Ziganda's side going into the remainder of the season.
