The International Champions Cup has not come at a good time for Zidane's team. After three heavy defeats, including a 4-1 loss at the hands of Manchester City, Real Madrid are yet to win a game in the pre-season.
After falling in the highly entertaining 'Clasico', alarm bells have begun to ring in the Spanish capital. On August 3, the 'Blancos' will face a team of MLS All-Stars. Cristiano Ronaldo still absent and with three defeats weighing down on the team, it is imperative that Zidane's men put an end to the disappointing string of adverse results.
But the crucial fixture is on August 8. Madrid play the European Super Cup, as they defend their title of Champions League winners. It is the first big trophy of the season, a match in which they will have to prove they are still capable of performing at a high level.
Once again, they will meet Jose Mourinho's Manchester United and, by then, problems in front of goal as well as defensive woes must be part of the past if Zidane wants to lift the first trophy of the season.
