'Ronaldo the best ever? Nonsense'

"Everybody is free to say what they want, also to say nonsense. I do not think Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player in history. No way," the former Argentina star said on Venezuelan TV program 'En la mira de RT'.

Maradona still praised the five-time Ballon d'Or winner for his illustrious career: "I respect him for his career and nothing else. From that to speaking about the best ever... he has a lot of ground to cover."

Upon winning his latest France Football accolade in December, Ronaldo proclaimed himself not only the best footballer in the world, but of all time. A comment that was subject to controversy and has now returned to the scene after the Argentine legend's equally-disputable statements.
