However, South Korea U23 coach Kim Hak-bum has warned that Son could potentially miss out on the opening stages of the Premier League next season.
The 25-year-old is reportedly very keen to present his country at the Asia Games this summer, with fixtures concluding on the 1st of September, possibly jeopardising his earlier fixtures with Tottenham.
Speaking to 'Yonhap News' Kim Hak-bum said: ''Son has a strong will to compete at the Asian Games. But first, there's the World Cup. I told Son to play well in Russia, before we meet at the Asian Games.''
The Spurs forward's future in professional football could also be affected by South Korean law. All able-bodied men between the ages of 21 and 27 must undertake a period of military service in their homeland, which could cut short his career.
Although, a shot at Asia Games glory could mean that the Tottenham star could be exempt from completing military service. That is, if South Korea bring home the gold medal at the tournament.
Son's impressive form at Tottenham this season has seen him pick up the Best Footballer in Asia accolade for 2017, for the third time in his professional career, having previously won in 2014 and 2015.
