The Real Madrid coach reunited with his old French team-mates, with whom he won the World Cup in 1998. At the talk, the French strategist was receptive to the media and spoke about his withdrawal from the sport.
''When I retired I did not have any desire to be a coach, I did not want to train at all, I wanted to stop, to dedicate myself to other things,'' he said. At that point, Zidane had no idea that one day he would take the reins at Real with virtually no experience.
The Frenchman explained the reasons why he decided to take up a coaching role: ''And then finally, as you realise when you have had challenges in your life, you have to continue to challenge yourself.''
''I took some time, I prepared myself for it and then my passion for being on the side of the pitch prevailed, today I'm a coach and I'm happy to be one,'' he proclaimed.
Zidane has managed to win two consecutive Champions League titles with Real Madrid in his short time as a coach. Undoubtedly the Real boss made the right decision.
